While Sri Dalida Maligawa is the most widely known holy place, Kandy is filled with architecturally and spiritually important temples, both Buddhist and Hindu. In the town centre: 14 th century Natha Devale, the petite Pattini Devale, Maha Devale dedicated to Vishnu, and the colourful Devale to the six-headed, peacock-throned Kataragama.
Temples in the surrounding countryside include: Embekka (which inspired Amaya’s wooden lotus carvings) and Lankatilake (which inspired the white-blue walls found in certain wings of the resort).
