The Temple of the Tooth Relic, which houses the left canine tooth of the Buddha, is one of the most prominent sites of worship among the Buddhists of the island. Kandy has been named as a World Heritage Site mainly due to the significance of this temple that is located within the city’s borders. The temple, which is popularly known as Sri Dalada Maligawa is located in the royal palace complex of the ancient kingdom of Kandy and is a must visit place when travelling in Kandy.
