The Kaludiya Pokuna in Kandalama dates back to the period  853 A.D. –  857 A.D. It served as a place of meditation for Buddhist monks who resided in the surrounding areas.

The trek towards the Kaludiya Pokuna is the most picturesque part of the experience, as it takes you through winding roads along paddy fields and vegetable cultivations. If you’re lucky you may even have a peacock or two pass you by.

The Kaludiya Pokuna site consists of a few ruins that remain, including a stupa. Those who love history and the tales of old would certainly enjoy a trip to this majestic place.
