Located behind the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy, this dense forestland spans over 250 acres of rich vegetation and numerous flora. The forest boasts over 400 species of plants, 80 species of birds and a diverse species of butterflies. Ideal for nature lovers, you can spot the rare Three-toed Kingfisher, Layards Parakeet and even the Brown-capped Babbler during your trek through the forestland into its verdant depths.

This Sanctuary is also host to three Buddhist forest monasteries and three cave dwellings for monks with a rich history dating back centuries and once known as the “Forbidden forest”.
