The Kandy Garrison Cemetery, which is also known as the British Garrison Cemetery, is an interesting place to visit in Kandy. It  was established in the year 1817 for the burial of British colonists who died in Ceylon. This cemetery has 195 old graves, most of which date back to World War II. The grave of Sir John D’Oyly, a colonial officer who made plans to capture the city of Kandy in 1815, can also be found here. The cemetery is managed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
